Green Building: In October 2005, the YouthBuild program of Community Housing Initiatives and AIA Committee on the Environment held the Second Annual YouthBuild Sustainable Design Charette, a two day design Charette that was hosted by the Southface Energy Institute. The purpose of the Charette was to expose the YouthBuild students to a range of green building techniques and to then engage them as designers, encouraging them to find their own :green” voice. Given the success of these early steps, Cobb Housing is charting a course to provide a more integrated educational approach in the coming year’s academic years.
